Well, all books need to have origins. Harry Potter's plot was written in a british cafe, but HP is good literature. But it's getting teen girls to read books that make little to no sense. Even Stephen King said he hated them.
First off, I don't personally give a rat's ass what King thinks. Although it's a bit ironic considering he's gotten bad reviews
second the biggest "issue" i find from people who hate the series (after the "sparkle" and "real vampires" issues)... is that people claim the main character has no personality and is just wishy washy.
I'm still trying to figure out just what book they read cos i never saw that. granted i'm not a teen but... when i listened to the audiobooks the impression i got from it was that she was an "old soul" in a teen's body. with the exception of when she went insane after edward left her.
but in all honesty.. most girls know how that feels when they've had their hearts broken.
and that she believed in self sacrifice for the good of others.
Do i think it's worthy of a nobel prize, or even a newberry? no. but sometimes i don't read for that... i read for entertainment and escape.
mainly i think the real issue is... what i said before... that people hate the book because of the way teens adore it.
kinda like how teen girls LOVE boy bands... therefore the rest of us have to hate the boybands
Is it normal to be obssessed with sexy vampires
