Is it normal to be obsessed with equality

Is it normal that I absolutely despise hierarchies of any kind? I'm not talking in terms of authority but hierarchies that are pointless. Such as one person feeling they have the right to be in charge of others despite having no reason?

    I don't know if it's normal...but I'm the same way!

If it's just their attitude you don't like then I understand it.

I cannot abide anyone making long speeches at dinners etc as it seems so arrogant - as if we all really want to listen to them for half an hour or more. It's worse if they start telling jokes, thinking they are actually funny. I usually leave for the bathroom and find another bar!!

We should all be treated as equals but there is no such thing as "equality."

I'd say it's normal depending on the context that you are speaking of. If we are talking about the issues of civil rights, I believe it is normal, but to be obsessed with it...
I'll be honest, people who OBSESS over civil rights issues are quite annoying for us lay-folk to hang around.

Yeah people shouldn't be racist whatever can you please just tell me how much it will cost including parts AND labor???

i say no, not normal. simply for the fact that you say you are obsessed with this.
The reason i think so is this: Even in flat hierarchys or friendly work atmosphere, you will usually have a person being in charge, for simple sake of project management. A person that tries to coordinate the others, that makes sure everybody does their part. If i have a good understanding of the task at hand, that may be me. If i don't, and am just helping, that may be someone better suited. But even if we are all equally clueless, many more complicated tasks simply get done better and quicker if someone takes charge/responsibility and coordinates the others.
Disapproving of this simply for the reason that he IS taking charge, i find highly counterproductive.
