Is it normal to be jealous of your best friend with your boyfriend?

So, I've been with him for a few months, and known her for two years or so. They're close and they talk to each other everyday. The thing is, I get jealous. He usually tells her his problems first, or sometimes says hi to her first when we're in our group. I know it's stupid, but I can't help but feel like he likes her better.

She used to like him, too. Until he told her that he liked me. I've also had a dream where they flirted and played around with each other, ignoring me.

Am I being paranoid or unfairly jealous? I love both of them, but I've been a little insecure since I started dating him.

Is It Normal?

  • If you aren't secure in your relationship in the first place, it won't matter what he does.

  • Thing of it this way, he is with you, not her! Don't worry about it girl!

  • Sounds like your insecurity is making you paranoid. Don't let this interfere with your new relationship. He chose you, not her. She's just a friend.

  • Okay, so I've told him I get jealous. But I don't want to tell him who I'm jealous of. Should I?

  • Tell him.

  • 1/3 of guys admit to having sexual thoughts about their girlfriend's best friends. I'd be paranoid too.

    • That's hilarious, and I actually think that's probably true. I know if you're in a relationship with someone and they've got a really close bestfriend that's in the picture often it's hard not to find an attraction with them simply because they're around so much.

But to the question of is it normal to be jealous of your bestfriend and boyfriend's relationship: It's completely normal. No matter how secure a person is they'll ALWAYS have the thought of: Is there something more between them that I'm just not seeing?
Be careful though. Paranoia has been known to ruin both relationships if you let it get too out of hand.

      Good luck! :)
