  • Bowel cancer, lung cancer and prostate cancer are just as deserving of awareness campaigns and research funding. But they're seldom given the same share of the spotlight.

Movember is supposed to be a fun way to raise awareness of prostate cancer, kind of an attempt to redress the balance in fundraising. Aussie men done good!

I get why you feel that way, OP. I think everybody is better off donating to general cancer research institutions anyway, rather than those focusing on niche cancers.

I had a bad experience with someone raising money for cancer research recently, who decided to stop me in the street and tell me how many cancer cells are in my body right now - then asked "doesn't that scare you?" FUCK off.

    • I know that lung cancer and colon cancer are the two deadliest cancers, respectively, and a friend of mine's mother died of pancreatic cancer, which is usually only discovered in the later stages and kills somewhere in the 90% range of cases. But you don't hear anything about those.
