Totally normal to be in love with your best friend, personally, I feel it would be better than to try to hook up with a stranger, after all, your close, you have a lot in common, you have lots of fun with them.
Also, I've been there, I was best friends with this girl in high school, and we got close, to the point everyone was convinced we were a couple! Well, that didn't happen, even if I wanted to be. However, I was too nervous, I never told her. She ended up with another, and I was heartbroken. Lately, she has come back in my life, and the feelings are returning, but she doesn't want a relationship as she recently divorced her abusive husband.
