But you (or at least I) really do love them. May not be an entirely romantic infatuation, but you want the best for them in life and want them to be very happy, even more than your own blood family. That's certainly love, wouldn't call it being in love.
I don't know how well she knows this teacher so I doubt she can relate to my situation but it has to be serious because their the same sex.
