I am completely in love with my best friend. he is perfect for me; we have so many things in common. i have no idea what i should do, but all i know is that all i wish was that he would love me back. I have been there for him when he has needed advice on his ex, and he has been there for me for my exs too. we are both single now...
I was always the strongest advocate that a boy and girl can be really close friends without developing feelings for each other. The idea of a relationship with my best friend horrified me because of how I so valued our friendship, etc.
That was a couple years ago. We have been happily dating for 10 months now, and it isn't at all the mistake many people think it could be. It doesn't destroy the friendship, but rather enriches both the bond you already had while creating a stronger romantic bond than the average couple has. I say, go for it - you'll find that being with somebody you are already so comfortable with leads to a very healthy and open communication that many partners have trouble with.
Since he is guy go ahead... Usually it's the other way around. With girls the "once you fall into the "friend" category, it can never go beyond that." applies...
But make sure that he is attracted to you first. If there has been a kind of "friendly flirt" between you two then go ahead.
I have a similar problem and have been advised that once you fall into the "friend" category, it can never go beyond that.
But I say screw that, if you're absolutely in love with this guy, then I think you need to talk to him and just tell him. There really is no shortcut to it. I know it's normally the guy's job to talk about these things, but it can be very heart-breaking if you decide not to do anything about it too. Hope all goes well and all the best.
