You got it right about being a "terrible idea" to hang out.
Thinking about an ex is ONE thing. Still staying in contact is another. Still staying in contact when at least one of the partners still has interest in more is destructive.
If you are sure you love your boyfriend and you are sure that will work out, i'd recommend you end this affair right away. Since there is emotional luggage, cheating with an ex is even worse than cheating with a random stranger...while you can blame the later on alcohol and hornyness and eventually ignore it happened, doing that with an ex WILL stay as a dark cloud above you...
