Is it normal to be in a house full of wasters

My house s fully of wasting people. Like wasting energy i mean. My bro always falls asleep with the TV on. I usualy put on my alarm clock at 01:00 to go downstairs and turn the tv off. My mother brushes with the water fountain on and i always complain about it. Also every1 leaves on lights everywhere.these are just a few examples... There are so much things..
Is this normal or am i over reacting on things?

Does any1 know a other word for : water fountain? I dont like that word.. ( water fountain= that thing tthat hangs over the sink a d spills water)

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • I agree wholeheartedly. I recently had to tell my mom that using a paper towel instead of a washable plate for food was wasteful to me. She actually said, "I don't want to waste a plate." In her world, this saved me from doing a chore. Dishes need to be washed, it's a normal part of life that I don't need or want to be saved from. Please don't use my paper towels as plates- they are strictly for cleaning up cat puke and other icky things.

  • It's the sad truth that some people don't care. In my book, they're ignorant. They just see a button that turns the TV off and on and don't look any further than that as to the consequences of their actions. I know this is a really strange thing to lose one's cool over, but it drives me absolutely crazy that people don't care about the planet they are on. I'd eject the lot of them into outer space for thirty seconds and see whether they value the earth then.

  • Yeah that sounds horrible! I'm in a similar situation they leave things like radio and tv on 24/7. It drives me nuts! I'm always turning things off etc.

  • We do very well at my house. Turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth. Turn off lights when leaving a room. We have one floor lamp with a timer on it. Put the tv on sleep mode so it goes off by itself. We have 3 bins for recycling. One for paper, plastic and metal. Another for table scraps that goes in the bin with grass and shrub clippings. The other one is for our soda cans that we take to our local recycling and get paid $1.57 a pound for them.

You gotta do what you can. Give them some ideas how to conserve. Do them yourself and maybe they will follow. Its terrible you set your alarm clock to go turn off the tv. Does your tv have a sleep mode?

    Good luck.

  • I think it's called a faucet. And I know how you feel, I'm always turning off lights and other appliances at my house too.

  • I try too.

The thing is, many humans have this feeling of "Pfft, it's not like a single ME will make a difference, I'm just ONE person..."

When you have billions of people with that attitude (and there are), it becomes a problem.

I think one of the most ignorant practices anyone can do is smoke in public, or their own homes around family. If they'd like to risk their own lives, so be it, but to risk another?

I know there's car fumes, and a ton of other crap many corporations are largely responsible for in ignorance, but cigarettes are just such a novelty item - we really don't need them anymore, as we don't need many of the other novelty's occupying our daily lives, I'm sure.
