how can that be??? the human psyche is so much more complicated than that and being that love is one of the strongest emotions of all there are radically different responses to love especially in different contexts.
Just like morals cannot be separated into right and wrong, black and white, love can't be separated into like her and like her not
it all depends on how you define your own "hints", hints for some might be to just kiss the other person but for another person a hint might be just to give a warm smile. I don't think the latter would be any good whilst the former might be too strong. hints always to depend on the context/situation but since the op is already his best friend it is very easy for her to 'hint' while someone else who doesn't know the guy might require a more direct course of action

Okay...what the hell is the point of "hints" then? In my opinion that's just god damn annoying.
"I have an idea, let me waste my time by giving some hints to a girl which she will probably never figure out."
Then again..maybe that's just me.
