Some professors are more into research than teaching. And some teachers have given up on students because most don't care. When the rare one comes along that does care, they might think that you are trying to show off if the things you are telling them are new to them. They may also consider the information you're giving them as irrelevant to their teaching, because they are used to following a schedule.
Just keep doing what you do and one day you'll find that rare teacher or professor who can see your potential and will help cultivate it.
