I'm coming close to a year and have been quite active throughout that time. I would say I overall it has toughened me up in terms of tolerance for this typa shit. So I would not say it has "taken a toll" on my mental health, but I could be wrong, or it could be different for you, who knows.

I think I’m definitely more sensitive to words than I am to experiences or actions. I know I have a stick up my ass about a lot of shit, but I’ve been through a lot of shit, and it sucks to hear people say that someone deserves these things to happen or that what happened means something different.
I would just hate for someone who was in a vulnerable state to wander unknowingly on here and ask a genuine question and be met by someone who wanted to fetishize their situation or mock them. Trauma sucks man, it beats the life out of you and leaves you with nothing, you never recover you just have to adjust.

People are too brave online they will say the most vile things here. And they feel extra free to speak rudely. Not just being an ass but to straight mock and harass people who in real life they’d probably give the “I’m sorry for xyz” speech and sympathize.
Like if a stranger told you in person “My dog just died :(“ the average person would go “Aw I’m so sorry” when online it’s “Okay not eat it chink” like what lmao
