My best friend got engaged last year. She was a freshman in highschool. She has a ring and everything. She's 16 and her boyfriend is 19. They have been dating for 2 years and only brokeup 2 times during those years. I don't want her to get married yet. Her boyfriend is an awesome guy but had nothing going for him. But my best friend has soo many things she can do but she can't if she's married. What should I tell her?

    so you said she was a freshmen in high school and the guy was 19?

    so he was was out of high school and getting engaged to a freshman?

    isn't that already sorta creepy?
    4 years diff isn't a big deal, but when you are under 20 it kinda is, since physical maturation and emotional maturity developed a lot during those years, and if it's going to hold your friend back, I'd personally advise her against it, shes only 16, she shouldn't be making choices like that so young, especially since marriages are intended to be life long, she should live her life then later on if she feels the same way about him she should go for it.

    Just tell her to wait. Explain a lot can happen In a couple years..heck, a couple months. and you don't want her to make the wrong move and regret for the rest of her life. Also make sure to say that this could be the right guy but the wrong time. And also MAKE SURE to say that your saying this BECAUSE you care. Not to just be a judgmental jerk.

    She's your best friend; no matter how weird and not normal it is, you should support her. If shes only a freshman, she still has 3 years left until they could even actually get married, and a lot can happen in 3 years... They will most likely get into a lot of fights because she's in school furthering education and he is not, and when she gets more mature& more perspective she will realize that being with him is a mistake. Or who knows, maybe they really are meant to be.

    You can try and talk her out of it but it might not work. It might just make her mad at you.

    Because of tv and movies younger ages seem to think it woukd be so much fun to go out and get married right now. Just tell her you don't object ringer getting married to him, but ask her to think about a long engagement so if she decides to do one of the things going for her she has an out.
