I think it's normal for an American or Brit. However, I do not find it right or okay to feel this way. I've always been skinny. I eat like a horse, smoke, and lay around all day. Literally. Fortunately for me, it's in my genes to be skinny. However, my mom is "overweight". She exercises at a ladies' gym 4 days a week and eats like a bird. She's with my dad, who is skinny. Why is it fair for you to say that you're disgusted by that? How dare you? Sounds like you have some really poor self-esteem. Worry about yourself.
