Unfortunately lots of people just marry another person for looks, and sexual desire above all else, but don't really care about actual compatibility, and shared interests.
Sometimes things happen that can't be helped like medical problems, or an serious injury.
My second ex-husband started drinking way too much after he lost his job, so I dumped left him after 3 months. All he wanted to do was play video games, and get drunk. I was watching a YouTube video about relationships, and commented about it, then some jerk had the nerve to ask me, "whatever happened to til death do us part", and it just made me feel so angry. I have very little patience for that sort of behavior in a man, and it made me so mad to think that some people think women ought to put up with it. I was still working my ass off, and the last thing I wanted to do was deal with a lazy drunk who doesn't want to look for work, but has plenty of time to play video games.
Everything seemed fine when we got together, but whenever things got difficult he just acted awful. I'm pretty sure when I met him we were both more interested in looks, and sexual compatibility than anything else.
Some men do the same. I bet it's probably harder for women to stay in shape after they have had a few kids.
We don't know what kinda shape OP is actually in because he hasn't shared that with us. Lots of men get fat, lazy and out of shape, but still expect women to stay in perfect shape.
I once saw this car with a bumper sticker that said, "no fat chicks" when I was driving around near The Strip in Las Vegas so of course I had to speed up to see who was driving. When I passed the dude, I saw he was just some little, troll-ass, hobgoblin looking guy dressed like a typical douchebag. I laughed so hard!

Appreances are just as important as personality. True that lots marry based upon sex and appearances, but keeping your body healthy is good.

Some girls let themselves go when they get married though. They think they got their husbands hooked and quit trying.
