Is it normal to be both?

Okay so I have taken the myers briggs test and I am an infp. But it seems that I also have a lot in common with the isfp. I generally can see the big picture of things but I also have a habit of living in the moment which annoys me because I can generally see the big picture of what will happen.

Yes, it is normal: and you are infp. 1
Yes, it is normal: and you are isfp. 0
Yes it is normal, you are both 6
no, dont rely on those tests. they arwent 11

Personality is not a concrete thing.

Why do you need a test to tell you who you are?

Maybe because sometimes it's hard to analyse yourself well:S? I personally enjoy taking quizzes just for the fun of it and because I like to see the results, although sometimes I disagree with them.

I get that these tests can be fun; I find them amusing sometimes too. But this person seems to be having a real predicament because he can't decide which one he's "supposed to be". That's what I don't understand.

The thing about the Myers-Briggs test is that it IS, in essence, just you analyzing yourself. When I read a question along the lines of "do you prefer to go out to parties or stay in and read?" it's obvious that I'm being asked whether I want to be considered an introvert or an extravert. So not only do I find myself answering based on what I'd LIKE to consider myself, but I find myself justifying the results.

It's like a horoscope. Anyone can read it and say "THAT TOTALLY APPLIES TO ME". But there are likely other horoscopes that could also apply to you - because personality is NOT an ironclad thing. It's malleable, indistinct, and easily influenced by external circumstances. There are aspects of myself that are both extraverted and introverted. Sometimes I'm a thinker; sometimes I'm a feeler. And so on.

I think people really enjoy these tests because it provides structure to their own psyches. We like to think of ourselves as very solid, definite beings. We say things like "I" and "me" and "self" and "mind" as if we know what any of these words refer to. But people are always becoming different.

Completely agree. I can understand why people feel the need to label themselves, or try to define who they are through a test, it gives them a bit of structure like you said:)

And people just see what they want to see when it comes to horoscopes, I really don't like them. Yeah, because all the people born in November have the same "destiny", makes sense:L!?!

I found MBTI useful because my description involved certain contradictions that I had had trouble wrapping my head around before. Seeing something that would explain it, and knowing that there are other people out there that feel similarly, was a really good feeling.

But yeah, I absolutely agree - they're not that serious. If you're between, you're between - no big deal.

Why, hello my fellow infp (had to). Anyways~ there was a certain way you had to take the test to make sure that you were just one of them (forgot how since I took these tests a long time ago). However, if you're getting annoyed by not having a certain one to live by, you can either take more tests (there's plenty out there), you can choose for yourself which one you might be after lots of research (on the personalities), or you can be both. Sorry if this wasn't much help.

Are you borderline on that letter? Like your score is close to being the other one? In that case it makes sense that you see aspects of yourself in both. If not, then the test isn't perfect, although I do think they can be helpful. You know yourself better than it does.

I came out as INFJ, apparently. I've come out as INTJ before as well. Although, as taciturn explained, the test is flawed. Why not identify as both, if you must at all? Or just choose whichever you prefer.

It's completely normal to not relate entirely to just one label. I'm INTJ but i also relate to ISTJ. Just use both descriptions.

I have gotten different results from that test at different times in my life. Because of this I think you shouldn't take it too seriously.

Yeah I know but it has almost become an obsession.
