Is it normal to be better at typing than talking?

I'm much better at articulating a point when I'm typing than when I'm talking. When I talk I get anxiety and lose my train of thought, but when I type I can just totally focus on what I'm trying to convey, and it comes out a lot smoother. I can type faster than I can talk as well. If you gave me 30 seconds to say something, and 30 seconds to type something, the typed message would be a lot better than the spoken message. Is it normal?

  • Normal, but sad. Typical of young people nowadays

    • Not necessarily...Some people with social anxiety, bad social skills, or just anyone of all ages can find it easier to type, because you can say what you have to say without really saying it. That's just my opinion.

    • there's nothing "sad" about it. all forms of communication are valid and, if typing works for some people, then that's what works best for them. we should be happy that people find ways that work for them, as well as celebrate the diversity in methods of communication.

  • This reminds me of this guy named Moses. He suffered from anxiety. My dad wanted him to tell people how they must live their lives.
He begged my dad if he could rather get it in writing.
    My dad sighed.

  • Normal to articulate in writing more lucidly than speaking? I think so. The speaking bit I'm not sure about, I can't type that fast!
