Is it normal to be best friends with my brother?

I had tons of friends in high school. Right now I'm finishing up my first year of college. In the process I lost my best friend (she found new friends) and my other friends are off at other schools. I've made a few new friends but not a best friend. I look forward to going home every weekend to work and hang out with my brother. I always used to make fun of the weird siblings who hung out all the time. He's always had trouble making friends, and in high school just hung out with me and my friends. I realize now that he's really the only true friend I have anymore that I can trust to tell anyone. Is this normal?

  • my brother and i use to hang out every single weekend for 4 yrs straight when he was in college-i would take the train up to Berkeley, and we would do everything together. from eating breakfast, to go dancing with the same group of friends, watching him play ice hockey with his team. Party with the team after they won the championship game. etc it was awesome while it lasted.
    i will never forget it.
now i am a stay at home mom, and my brother works everyday. i see him maybe once or twice for a brief 1 hr or less.
it sucks now. but someday or one day you two will gorw up,go to college and have separate lives. Treasure the moments you have with your sibling(s) because it won't last forever

  • Yeah definatly.. Before my brother went of to school, him and I hung out everyday. We were really close, and now that I only get to see him every so often, I realize I wouldn't trade that for anything! I think it's awesome that you and your brother are so close :)

  • Deffinately! You should be bestfriends with your whole family! or atleast the best of friends that you can be. I would understand if you didn't get along with a particular person but always try! (:
