Donations aren't only for those that are poor, I hopeful know that. You can donate to find a cure for a disease so you're argument of people needing to get their own job and make their own money. What you're thinking of is well fare.
And as Josie said it's easier for those that are well off to donate some money then someone who is already was struggling.
