Is it normal to be awkward around your guy?

So I havent had a relationship for 4 years, and I finally find this guy that I like. Take note that I have bumped into this guy before in the past. First time was with a group of friends to go to the movies. From that moment, I thought he was really cute. Second time was when I went to the same movie theater, and caught him working in the ticketbooth. Third time was coming out of a movie and bumping into him AGAIN. And now, about a month ago he randomly starts chatting with me on Facebook. Few weeks later we decide to go into a relationship. But the real problem is this.....He's 4 years older than me and almost out of college when I'm just starting it! And because of that, I always find myself silent whenever I hang around his friends talking about partying, xbox video games, and horror movies. All of which I dont have or dont like. On another downside, its hard to make a conversation with him. So my question is this....

Is this normal?.....

Its normal to feel out of place with his friends because they are way older than you. My mom married my dad and he is four years younger than her. Im not saying get married im just saying its normal. just smile and look pretty

I think it's normal. It just takes time. You will be just fine!

    i think you are normal.

no one is comfortable in the beginning of a relationship.

you mention the age difference, which i don't think is much, unless, of course, you think it is.

that probably doesn't have anyting to do with the fact that you are not comfortable with people where your interests are not the same. who would be?

if you and this guy do have things in common, besides attraction to each other, then don't worry about it.
