I never went through the smelling and stuff...I ended up with a lot of panties that I just wore all the time. I started back in high school and we had block schedules so I only had gym every other day and could just wear them on off days. I fucked up one day and forgot and wore them on a gym day. I feigned sick and skipped out to avoid any issues but one girl did notice one day, she saw a little pink bow poking out the top of my jeans and reached up and used my belt loop to give it a little pull and see the whole thing...and the lace waistband and pink and white polka dot fabric...I was terrified but she just gave me a wink and a smile and I didn't notice any weird looks from any of the other girls over the next few weeks or months so she must have kept it to herself. Wasn't until like...four years later when I ran into her one day when I was out that she mentioned anything to me about them. By then I had already gone down that...expanded horizons rabbit hole and was wearing pretty gender neutral stuff and still wearing panties. We had a good laugh about how I was actually dressed a little more girly than she was.
I've worn the wrong style or color panties several times in public and a couple of times it was pointed out to me by guys and girls that they could tell I was wearing them. Now I sometimes do it on purpose
