NO! tell him to stick his catholic beliefs up his ass.. no one should ever be pressured in changing to make someone else happy. EVER! if they dont love you for you, then they arent the right person for you.

Thank you for your input. I was totally blind sided by this and only thought this occurred on tv shows. ha. Of course I said no and he just kept saying you don't have to but if you WANT to... I definitely need to see how deeply rooted this is though. I know part of it is that he wants to get married in a catholic church because only then are you "married in the eyes of god." But the ceremonies are so damn long. I bet a relative is behind this as well...it doesn't seem like he's come up with this on his own randomly after 2 years of dating.

no. I would recommend breaking up with him, because most abusive relationships start this way. Or, at least, this is how my parents relationship started. Dad's currently in for life.
