My family members and friends drop in on me without warning. They don't call and they don't give me any other notification. I feel like I can't mention that it bothers me because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. My family is set in its ways and sees nothing wrong with visiting people on the fly. Is it normal to hate their random visits?
I won't answer the door. It's so rude, and when I'm at home that means I'm tired and needing a break, so I am in sweatpants and no makeup. I hate unannounced guests...I won't answer the door.
Time to set some boundaries and express those boundaries to your family in the nicest way possible.
My husband and I had to do it with his family. He politely and calmly had the "talk" with them. They were hurt and were pouty for about six months, but they eventually came around.

I'm the exact same way. Nothing gets on my nerves more than an unplanned visit from family or friends. In fact, today I was really annoyed when my brother brought his friend over unannounced.
yes its so annoying my friends just come round all the time and invite themselves in, even if i tell them im busy.
I have mixed feelings about this. In the old days people dropped in unannounced all the time and it was fine. But honestly today it just doesn't work like that. I would annoyed if someone showed up unannounced.
