I've been bullied for my name before (surname, not first name), but not as badly as you. I'm considering changing my name, but I'm still unsure. For one thing, what to change it to?
I think you have a good name, but I can see how it would attract bullying because kids tend to like to bully anything that's different, whether it be good or bad. If I ever have kids, I'm naming them something normal. And they can take the mother's surname, not mine.
I know your surname because it was sort of in your profile once. It's just a surname and it'd have to be way worse than it is before I thought it was funny.
Also, the thing is, if I was going to be picked on for anything, how wonderful that it's something I could take absolutely no blame for and cannot take personally. Much better than being told you're ugly or stupid or dull.
Yeah, I guess you're right (although I have been bullied for my personality before too, most specifically my introversion and quietness). I'm more guarded about my name than I used to be here - as far as I'm aware only you and now Anime, as well as possibly one other person, know it in full, although it's perfectly possible other people saw it at the same time you did and I can't do anything to help that :P I was speaking to bananaface recently about how I'm much more guarded than I used to be about personal information than I was when I first joined IIN, and not revealing my full name to many people is an example of that.
Yeah, I very deliberately didn't say anything that would even hint at your name and it's not something I've ever told anyone or will ever tell anyone.
I think keeping your name to yourself is a good idea (apart from in private to people you trust and have known a reasonable amount of time). You've got a fairly high profile here on IIN and that, in itself, may be enough for someone to want to pull something.
I'd have been more open when I was just any old user but plenty of people know both our usernames and it means you don't have the benefits of anonymity. Heh! Look at me talking about us as if we were Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. :D
To be honest, I think it would be very easy for anyone to target me if they wanted to. Really, I'm surprised nobody has yet. I (sometimes deliberately) make it far too easy, and I always have done :P
And we can be Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt if we like, damn it! :D
Invisible character didn't work for me but I like my new username more without it anyway *flaunts*
What do we do now? I mean, do we go to David Beckham's house and play Pro Evo or do you like, have to, umm, make a movie, dude?
Okay, this is the worst Brad Pitt impersonation in all of history. :P At least your first name rhymes with the Tom. Although, come to think of it, Brad Pitt's real first name is William and my name does kind of rhyme with that. Do you know what? Maybe you and I really are them. :O
Hahaha! BradapPittled is such a good name! :D But I know you're actually just jealous of our invisible characters ;P
Yeah, err, dude... I've got to go donate millions of dollars to a cult today :/
God, accents elude me even in written form. I'll just have to wear huge, Top Gun-esque aviator shades and hope my painful not-Tom-Cruise-ness somehow stays hidden 8)
I would actually like it if my children had their mothers surname than my own as well. If you don't mind me asking, what is your last name? I'll tell you my first name in exchange cause I guarantee you that my first name is worse than your surname.
Is it normal To be angry at my parents for naming me this.
