Is it normal to be angered when people mess up my name?

I'm called Olivia and I once had a teacher who insisted on calling me Oliver...I wanted to punch her.

Normal. My name is a star constallation (I kid you not) and people always pronounce it wrong. I mean really? It's the fucking star sign, there is no variation.

I think it is pretty obvious Gabrielle is a female name just by looking at the ending and it isn't an uncommon name, so either people are just being deliberately stupid or really are dumb

That's so dumb. I'm willing to bet they're just doing it to mess with you. How can someone legitimately not know if Gabrielle is a male or female name?

I have a short, simple name, but I'd be very annoyed if I was in your position. The -le at the end of your name makes it entirely obvious it's a female name. Even if I'd never heard the name before (I have, because I work with a Gabrielle), I'd assume female.

I'm the same way. At work, people will email me and spell my name wrong, even though my name is part of my email address. They always throw in extra letters when addressing me in the email. Fuckers.
