Is it normal to be afraid to go in hot topic

I love Hot Topics stuff but i am scared to go in there i am a kind of chubby guy i am not talking no neck chubby. Any way i am just scared because i don't want to get called emo by my dad or family because they all ready think it (Listening to music constantly,Dont talk much, wearing all black.) and well i am scared of getting judged by weight and age. i love the jackets and game stuff and i like emo stuff.

You guys are talking like you're going into Hell and asking for an application to join the crew.

Seriously, it's a store. The Hot Topic employees are nice, I know a ton of them. I see preppy little A&F girls all the time. Have some self confidence, dude.

And if your parents don't like who you are, and you're ashamed of yourself: change. If you don't wanna change, don't and get another heap of confidence.

It probably is very normal to be afraid of Hot Topic. The outside -- with all the red glow lights and skulls and shit -- is kind of intimidating. If you can, get a friend (a good, trusting friend that won't judge you) to go in there with you. Other customers and employees won't be as judgmental if you have someone with you.

If it tickles your fancy, though, you should do it. F*ck what everyone else thinks; just do it. Being afraid of what people think and letting their opinions hold you back... it's no way to live, guy. Just do it.

I haven't been to Hot Topic (I live in Canada, and we just got our first store recently), but from the few times I've been , I've seen people of all ages and sizes (and different dress styles, like emo, goth, preppy) shopping there. The clerks are actually pretty nice. I know teenagers are really judgmental, but most adults and older teens who are into goth/alternative stuff are usually accepting and non-judgmental. Do whatever makes you happy.

  • Just do it. Hot Topic is a music themed store for the labeled kids. If you've ever been labeled anything, you're a victim. I'm a skinny pale chick. I get called a vampire. I can't STAND Twilight. I wear skinny jeans, therefore people call me scene. I'm a 'victim' too. Just go in. ^__^ It's fine. <3

I get accused of being emo after having my hair dyed black and my interest of music, just ignore the dicks that take the piss and be who your are, its personality that counts.

Hot topic isn't just for metal. They sell a variety of pop culture/music merchandise. They carry large sizes,so that shouldn't be much of a problem. Sorry, but your dad sounds like a dick. It should be none of his business where you go shopping. Also, you could always buy it online.

I'm not goth or emo, in fact, I'm a bit of a geek. Hot Topic is the only place I've ever been able to find merchandise for Invader Zim, Scott Pilgrim, Big Bang theory and other stuff.

The way the nearest one to me is structured, the only stuff you can see from the outside are the glowing skulls, spraypaint, sharp jewelery, et cetera. Kind of makes you think twice about getting within forty feet. Once you get in, it turns out all that stuff was just the window display (not for sale) and you enter a spacious, well-lit cornucopia of semi-mainstream cult classic merch. Near the back is where you get the studded bracelets, weird music and absurdly large piercings, but it's not NEARLY as dark and intimidating as it was from the outside.

I now return regularly for shopping bags full of Death Note T-shirts and GIR plushies. Or I just put them inside the Half-Life 2 tote bag I got two months ago.

    I hate hot topic.
I am metal, not a gay emo or goth kid.
My boyfriend likes going in there to buy shirts, but I always choose to stand outside and wait for him.
I'm not scared, it's just a personal choice.
Don't be afraid to go in, no one will really notice there.

shut the fuck up. emo means music for little bitches to whine about their feelings and how they miss this girl thats not with them anymore. i think the term your looking for might be goth. either way, their both fucking gay. stop giving a shit about what everyone thinks of you. and if you dont like being fat, then loose some fucking weight.

So is everyone else's. Like mine. And yeah, I think you mean goth. Though it really is too bad since first impressions are always about the appearance. It's normal though.
