Is it normal to be afraid or worried to go to a black person's house?

I don't have a problem with black people particularly, but I got stuck with this black girl for a senior project and it has to be worked on all summer. It sucks because I don't want to go to her house because it might be dirty and I know she can't live in too good of an area. I'm afraid that I'd be worried the whole time and I wouldn't be able to get anything done. I also don't want her at my house because it's a nice area and my parents won't be home to watch over our stuff. I thought about the library or something, but she works and the library closes early. I also thought about a coffee shop but I'd rather not look like we're friends or something. Is there any other suggestions on how to deal with something like this? Thanks. I would ask real people, but people know me and I don't want anyone knowing that I'm afraid of going to her house.

Why do the pockets on women's pants never have enough room? My wallet, cell phone, 3DS, and keys would fall out of them all the time at work. I switched to cargo pants to solve this issue and now I can carry everything. I'm happy to now be able to carry all my stuff and all, but why in the holy hell were women's cargo pants so hard to find in clothing stores? I had to order them online and they were kind of pricey. Perhaps they're hard to find because they're "out of style" or something?

My goodness, this post spoke to my soul; thank you for renewing my hopes, cause I was searching for cargo pants real hard a few months back. Why the hell are cargo pants so hard to find!? I even tried shopping in the men's section of stores, but the material is so thick and heavy; and online would be nothing but carpi, as if the search engine completely ignored the word pants.

You too, huh? Good to know I'm not the only one. I had almost the same exact issues. I bought a few Dickies brand women's cargo from the Dickies website since that's the only brand that seems to match price and quality, though they're a little too stiff for my taste (but they can become comfy after a few washes though.) If I had known they'd be gone by the wayside, I would've stocked up back when the shops had them. XD It's almost like they assume that most chicks carry purses and don't need extra pockets of pocket space.

Oh yeah! I completely forgot about these. I do thrift shopping and still don't even run into any. They'd definitely be great. Most of my clothing doesn't even have pockets so I always need a backpack. It's awful.
I'm just considering getting some carhart overalls and sewing some extra pockets on their already huge pocketed clothing. That'd be nice for all the train hoppin

Sounds like a good idea. Extra pockets beat having to carry a purse or backpack any day.

You're racist! Get over it. You are white and she is black. So what? If you both scratch your arms enough to bleed it would be red. Also you are making assumptions that her house would be messy just because she is black. Get on with your project and leave your racism at the door.

It means you actually DO have a very big problem with black people.

No. Too much emphasis on the black, not enough on the PERSON. My suggestion is to replace your fears with this particular understanding. Assumptions are your enemy. What might be, what could be, is actually just you being afraid and focusing on stereotypes instead of what's actually in front of you. It's normal to be cautious about inviting a stranger into your home, that's common sense. The rest of this is just silly self conciousness. You need to give new people a chance, or just accept that you're too afraid to grow past it and fail your project.

Generally, yea. It's for senior year of high school and we have to start on it during the summer. The due dates are throughout the year and each one is due at different time. I actually went to her house yesterday and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. She lived in an okay neighborhood and the only problem that I smelled her dad smoking weed, but I don't have a problem with it. It just seemed bad to do in front of kids.

  • I am not even bothering arguing with autistic screaming "RACIST" garbage.
You seem to already know that stereotypes exist for a reason, so you know that you are wise to be worried. However, your worry might be unjustified so all you have to do is to be vigilant and see what happens.

Also, who turns a legitimate worry and normal precaution into a "Grand Wizard" KKK stuff is a complete retard. Just like someone saying:
"Hey, I think multiculturalism has failed"
    "NAZI" *feminist illiterate sounds*

      Unsuccessful troll is unsuccessful.

Like your kind of people would say in response to brown children being torn away from their parents who were legally seeking asylum, "womp womp."

Starbucks would be a good place to go. Every since those thugs cried "racism", starbucks will now let everyone loiter.

But yes it is normal to worry about what you would be getting yourself into.

Are you implying that IIN members aren't "real people"?

Inform your parents of your quandry. Given your attitude, I'm sure they'll be extremely concerned about you picking up some deadly disease or getting raped or murdered if you visit her house, and they'll want to do everything possible to protect their prescious little princess. Since she'll have to visit your place, suggest to your parents that they remove anything of value from the house, install security cameras covering every room, and hire at least two armed security guards to shadow her while she's on your property. Alert your local police about the highly hazardous situation, have your emergency number on speed-dial on your phone, and keep it in your hand at all times. Have a locksmith lined up to replace all the locks once she's gone.
