Is it normal to be afraid of the dark parts of your house at age 22

I am 22 years old almost 23 and I am terrified of the dark parts of my house at night. I send my dog out first to make sure it's safe then run to the light switch in hallways ect. Or use my phone as a flashlight. I'm not afraid of the dark in my room just the dark parts of the house I cant see.

Normal, I’m also 22 and haven’t been able to walk around at night with the lights off since I watched the first Doctor Who weeping angels episode when I was 11 (If you haven’t watched it be warned it is TERRIFYING).

It doesn’t help that my house is like 89 years old and creaks, groans and sighs all night by itself. The other day I was having dinner and clearly heard a woman cough in the other room when the rest of the house was empty. I checked (like you, turning on every light as I went) but there was no-one there.

That was long but basically my house can be creepy too, I turn the lights on every time at night and that’s 100% fine.

That's normal I'd say. Most people can't see too well in the dark, and so it's just an unknown with a lot of uneasy potential. People got their fears, and the dark is a pretty common one. Keep doing what you need to to get through your fears.

I am a lot older than you and dark creepy corners in my house still freak me out. I don't react to them as strongly as you seem to, it doesn't affect my life, but I'd be lying if I said I was completely comfortable alone in my house at night when most of the lights are off. There could be burglars. Or monsters. Or even monster burglars.

My wife is scared of the dark. When I work nights she only unlocks the bedroom door to go piss in the bathroom with a pistol in her hand 🤣🤣

So I guess playing a joke and banging on the bathroom window would not end well.
I mean if she wasn't armed, it would be hilarious.

Terrible idea. That would be extra creepy considering we live in the woods far out in the country
