Yeah that's totally normal!! I've felt like this for a while, and I just started using them yesterday! It took me like 2 hours to get my first one in, then an hour, and then I switched back to pads just to be on the safe side. I'm not like a master of tampons or anything, but here's my advice:
-Don't be afraid to use them :D
-All those TSS warnings were from years ago and it's really not a big deal now. I think like 40 people died in the 1980's, and you should be fine unless you leave it in for like a day.
-For me, it really didn't hurt going in. Just make sure you aim it right (towards the small of your back, not straight up. About 45ish degrees)
-It does kind of hurt taking it out for the first time, but it doesn't last long and it's not that bad. You just gotta keep tugging!
-The string is on there pretty good, just make sure it's not sticking out anywhere and you should be fine. Even if it does get stuck (which it more than likely won't) then there are tons of people who know how to get it out.
-Try putting it in when your flow is heavy. It'll slide in easier. Your hands will get messy, but don't worry! You'll wash it all off after :D
-Buy ones with a plastic applicator that has a rounded top.
-I know this sounds kinda silly, but if you don't know where your vagina is yet, then try sticking your finger up there. It's in the *far* back. Then try to aim the tampon there.
I say try it out a few times and see what you like. I hate pads too, but I surprisingly didn't like using a tampon that much. It seriously took me 2 hours to get my first one in, but you've just gotta be patient and if you think you're getting too frustrated, just take a deep breath and calm down, or try again later.
Hope I helped!! Oh and you probably shouldn't use tampons *all* the time. Alternating between tampons and pads is a good idea :D
Is it normal to be afraid of tampons,HELP!!
