Is it normal to be afraid of going to sleep?

When I was younger, I absolutely HATED scary stuff (but I liked Halloween). Whenever I would see something scary, I would start crying. I was always a bit of a crybaby, but still.
Anyways, now that I am an adult, scary stuff doesn't make me cry anymore. But whenever I am laying in my bedroom at night trying to sleep, I can't.

I always feel like something's watching me, and it's gotten to the point where I have nightlights all throughout my house and especially my bedroom(there are 4 in my bedroom alone). I listen to calming music/rain sounds to help me fall asleep, but it still takes me what feels like forever to sleep.

Does anyone have any tips to help me with my issue?
Have any of you had these experiences aswell?

Find yourself a good therapist, that sounds like a phobia or a collection of them.

I'm sometimes afraid to go asleep in case I don't wake up but that's because there's always the possibility I'll have a second heart attack in my sleep and this one will be fatal.

You are already strapped with the sounds and the

lights. Perhaps invest in a firearm and an attack dog.

That will show the monster under your bed what is up.

It's advisable to find a companion, from families, bf/gf, to an animal. I love to see the anatomic video but always be scared to sleep. Until I raise a cat and a dog, I can fall asleep without nightmare when sleeping with them. Because I live alone and have a stressful job, sometimes my anxiety arises and cannot release to somebody or somewhere. I train my (ESA) dog to calm down my fear and anxiety, which greatly comforts my lonely and depressive emotion. Maybe you could try this way as well: https://www.supportdogcertification.org/article/how-train-your-emotional-support-dog

Sometimes I’m afraid I’ll die in my sleep and never know.. pretty stupid really, but that fear is sometimes present.

Perhaps getting professional help would work? Having all those lights on is probably keeping you up.
