Either stay fully concious and feel a large object being inserted in you so deep that the pain will eventually make you fall unconcious.
- OR -
Get the anesthesia, which in modern medicine is unbelieveable safe, with the only thing that can go wrong is an upset tummy.
Trust me on this, I have been under the knife very VERY often and there is absolutely nothing to fear.
Normally I am a man who despises all sorts of medication, but this might be the one exception to this rule.
There is only one thing you certainly need to fear a little: You will wake up in the special room where nurses constantly monitor people who were put under anesthesia, and you will be grumpy as hell. It will feel like waking up after only one hour of sleep and you were really tired.
It is a small thing and afterwards it will be a fun game trying to remember anything anyone has told you in the first few hours after waking up. Then you will go to bed that same night and you will sleep like an angel.
Don't get me started on how refreshed you feel the next morning. Just be careful, you still had an operation the day before and you will certainly not mind that in the first few hours after waking up in your bed!
Is it normal to be afraid of drugging you to sleep before a procedure?
