  • Phobias are, by definition, irrational and/or extreme fears. You cannot necessarily look for rationality behind them.

    • What about ophiophobia, the fear of snakes? Surely there's rationality behind being afraid of snakes, even if some people take it overboard. Sometimes the word phobia is defined as, "an extreme OR irrational fear of or aversion to something".

      Ahhh, semantics.

Anyway, there may not be a logical reason for why those people are afraid of blueberries, but I think that if you dug deep enough, you'd find a reason.

Buried trauma stemming from an old memories? The subconscious association of various aspects of the appearance of blueberries with bad things?

      • I said "and/or" and "cannot necessarily". How did that not cover that, exactly?

        • I missed the and/or in your first sentence, but nothing changes with the 2nd one. You can look for rationality behind something extreme.
