Is it normal to be absolutely terrified of movie theatres?

I am a 19 year old guy. I am generally anxious when it comes to a handful of things, however when it comes to movie theatres I am genuinely terrified. It is not just the idea of being in a large dark room that scares me or anything like that... I get most worked up just thinking about movie theatres in general, the whole process, including buying tickets, buying snacks, walking down the hallways towards the movie as the hallway gets more quiet... If i think about it too much I begin to panic and most of all movie theatres make me feel uncomfortably vulnerable. Is this normal? I am not a nervous wreck about anything else or anything like that its just this one concept they call a movie theatre totally freaks me out!! Also, I haven't been to a theatre in nearly 5 years.

    I haven't been to a movie theatre since the Colorado movie shooting. And I'm from Colorado. I know it's stupid to be so paranoid, but can't help it.

    It doesn't really sound normal. I mean I get the whole being in a dark room, but walking as the hallway gets quieter sounds like the only real scary part. I work at a movie theater and trust me there's no maniac hiding around the corner. Besides you're with plenty of people.

        Honestly just yesterday I had a guy bring a candybar from outside and I stopped him. Told him he can't bring in food; he then just put it in his coat pocket. Outta sight, outta mind. I don't really mind people sneaking in food so long as I don't see it. Movie theater food is so overpriced. We do not allowed outside food or drinks, but as long as we don't see it there's nothing we can do. And I don't blame the people that sneak in food.
