Is it normal to be able to hear your own heartbeat?

I can hear my own heartbeat when everything is quiet all around me. So usually at night when I'm reading something or when I'm about to fall asleep. It gets annoying sometimes because it interferes with my ability to drift to sleep.

The sound is more like an echoey and wooshy thump. It doesn't sound like heartbeats portrayed in movies.

Is this normal? Do you guys hear your own beat too?

Things never sound like the movies, and most people can hear their own hearts from time to time; so I don't think it's a problem.
But if you want to, you could check with a doctor to make sure everything is fine
