Is it normal to be a woman and have a phobia of blood?

I’m a female, and obviously have a period, however I’m terrified of blood. If someone even says the word ‘blood,’ it sends shivers done by spine and I feel faint. In fact, upon first getting my period I did indeed faint, to this day I can only handle seeing it on the pad, if I drips or I see it in the toilet after peeing or whatevs, I feel like vomiting.

It sounds like an anxiety disorder, a "Specific Phobia." I have the same issue, that is the "Blood-injection-injury" type phobia.

It is common, and recongised in the DSM, so I encourage you to seek psychological treatment if you can.

I never got treatment (and suffered because of it) because I thought it was too uncommon to be recognised/diagnosed/treated.

I get nosebleeds all the time. I once had a nosebleed that wouldn't stop for like two hours. I actually had to go to the the ER.
