Is it normal to be a virgin at 20 years old in the year 2011?

I'm a 20 year old female and I'm still a virgin. I'm in my second year of college and all of the people I know are having sex. I mean I haven't even had my first kiss yet!! I know it's probably stupid to say because I know there are other people out there but all the posts I find are more than a couple years old...So, is it normal to be 20 and not only be a virgin but not even have had a boyfriend of ever been kissed??

I'll be 20 in may and I'm a virgin and I've also never been kissed. Hell I've never even had a boyfriend :P I'm in no rush to be losing my virginity, when it happens it happens, but most likely won't for some time.

I do however want my first kiss to happen sooner than later :p

        • I don't actually want to start a conversation on here per say. I just wanted to tell you that if we were in the real world, then I would love to talk to because you sound very interesting.

haha, okay. I just realized this place doesn't have a place to chat like most other websites.

            • It has member chat but then it wouldn't be as personal, if that makes sense. I just love having deep interesting conversations with people. Especially when they have interesting view points.

  • Don't know if it's normal in this day and age but it's not abnormal. I'm exactly the same as you except I'm male.

If it's neither normal or abnormal then what is it?:L

      • Something that isn't oftenly done doesn't make it abnormal.

Have you heard of statistical infrequency? So many problems with it, but it would technically make her abnormal.

          • It's not "abnormal" because it's been like that in before times. It's nothing new. Infact, it's something old.

Side note. I know why you decided to reply to me and not anyone else.

I commented asking a question to the OP, and when I replied to you there were only a few other messages. All of them I agreed with, so I didn't feel the need to comment.

I'm not out to get you like you make it seem, just think that maybe you actually know the definition of normal/abnormal before you go telling people if they're ok or not. And I've said that to plenty others who have done the same thing, so don't flatter yourself.

What's the rush? You're still young. Don't go by what everyone else is doing because if you do, you'll regret it. As a female, it's a good thing you're still a virgin.

Lost it at 22. Then managed to get sex for a second time at 24. I'm still saving my money to afford the third time

Its not the virgin part its just at this age i would at least had 1 girlfriend and atleast 1 person would find me attractive but I guess I'm not

        Comment Hidden ( show )
    • I guarantee you that there is some girl out there thinking the exact same thing. I know that sometimes people will treat like you're unimportant but there really is somebody out there for everyone. Things may seem bleak now but there will come a time when a lucky girl will step into your life and she'll fall head over heels in love with you. In the meantime, just keep your head held high and walk with confidence.

So what? It doesn't matter what everyone else is doing.

You DON'T have to spread your legs and let some dude hump you just because the other girls are doing it.

And if they harass you over it... just tell them you don't want to be a slut. Or that you have higher standards.

    =)

This has been asked many times, and yes it's normal. I'll be 20 next month and I'm a virgin. When it happens it happens...save it for somebody you care about & it'll be more powerful when it happens.

  • I think this is more normal than people would lead on. I know you're not the only one out there and you will find someone who likes you for who you are. I'm 16 and am in no rush to lose my virginity.I know it'll happen someday so I don't let my hormones control my life.

I was 19 when I lost my virginity. I waited for love, and my first time was amazing. There's zero reason to rush into it, or to just get it over with. It's 100% normal. Don't sell yourself short.

Sometimes I feel like the movie "Never Been Kissed" is going to be a mirror to my life, except I'm not a petite skinny blonde I'm a tall size 20 brunette. @BASEDOFWG I'm sure you'll find someone, in my opinion it's easier for guy because you don't have as much pressure to be a D cup size 2 blonde. Though I recognize the difficulty with your male friends Judging you to 'hit it and quit it' you just have to hold out for aomeone that's worth waiting for. I've been telling myself that's what ive been doing since I was 16 but it isn't easy and sometimes I get embarrassed when my friends start talking about sex and I can't honestly contribute to the conversation! So I guess what I'm saying is thank you all for your input, it's made me feel less like an outsider

OKAY I HAVE A SOLUTION. see what u need to do is, well, it's not that you need to have

sex just because it's normal to have sex when ur 20 in 2011. what u neeeeed to do is

time travel to an era where being a 20 year old virgin isn't so fucked up. so like,

according to my research, sometime pre 1950. THE KICKER IS, u shoula been married by

20 in those days so it looks like you're an old maid no matter what. so, maybe you

should just have sex with me. u know, like u scratch my back I'll scratch yours. or

    more

like "you scratch my back, I'll get bummed when you stop scratching my back."

it's not so much that I'm looking to lose my virginity; especially if I can't find the right person. But I just get frustrated when I know I am beautiful-though not hot by any means-and have a great personality and I can't find anyone who even seems interested in me, but I see all of these other young women my age and they all have had ten boyfriends and three partners. I don't understand why, I don't think I have a problem because I see other women bigger than me, with an awful personality getting to be in relationships, but like I said I just don't get it.

20-year-old female here. I was a virgin until a couple of months ago. It's normal, but sex is so fun, if I could have my time again, I would have done it earlier. But don't go rushing into things. What I did was go online to find a sweet boy that I connected with. I wouldn't have felt good if I lost my virginity for the sake of it - it takes time, practice and commitment to get any good at sex. I'm still learning! So a one-night thing for your first time is a bad idea. But nothing's going to fall into your lap - put yourself out there! See where you end up.

That is completely normal. Virginity is an important thing, save it for someone special that you love and that person loves you as well. I think it is kinda cool that you havent had your first kiss yet because when you do im sure that it will be special(:
