well, i've smoked cigs casually for 6 years now. and plenty of people just do it at parties. also, most users i've known have jobs...
my guess, is you just started using the internet about five months ago? if you use the keypad to toggle the screen the text will get bigger so you can read it without glasses.

We were discussing heroin use in this thread, and that's what you gamble your life with, that's the drain on the taxpayers.
I'm sure it would be sweet to be able to use heroin casually and never have it impact one's life negatively, but I ain't gonna try.
Cigarettes are quite the contrary. If everyone quit smoking today, the government would be in turmoil.

Heroin (and other opiates) are the only truly physically addictive drug besides nicotine.
The world is not full of casual cigarette smokers, although there are some.
