Yes this is perfectly normal. A lot of Americans are broke, some of them eating beans on the street, with nothing but fire in a bin to keep warm, a blanket and some raggedy clothes and long hair and a beard. You're the lucky one who can live with your mother, remember that there are other people worse off than you. You have a roof over your head, food to eat (provided that any ridiculous diet or some other diet you can afford to eat). Just don't overwhelm your mother with an extreme diet she thinks is totally unnecessary, as I know from experience that this can give you a headache. For me maybe I'll just settle down and move on with my life, and I don't mean having a wife and kids! Once you move on, you won't have to worry with grave concern what your life is about. The truth hurts!
Eating beans on the street, raggedy clothes, garbage can fires...is this how the rest of the world sees us now? I thought we still had the dignity of being seen as obese trailer trash.
