Is it normal to avoid spaces in concrete?

On most sidewalks, pieces of concrete are separated by a thin horizontal gap. I always feel compelled not to step on these - I'm not sure why. All I know is that I simply must avoid them, no matter what. Is it normal to feel this constraint?

  • I am clinically diagnosed with OCD and this is one of my compulsions. That doesn't mean you have OCD though.

    • No, not those cracks - those are fine. It's where the sections are divided by whoever built the sidewalk.

  • I do it too when i'm walking sometimes. i'm 21. idk i think its just a way to keep myself occupied while walking, kind of like feeling all the walls in a house or clothes in a store as you walk through it lol

  • A subtle compulsion is normal. I have them often. It doesn't mean that I have a certain over-diagnosed disorder that will surely be mentioned here on this story just like all of the other stories where somebody has a relatively common quirk/eccentricity.

  • I'd state; that you just need to fucking grow up. You're not 5yrs old anymore.
