Is it normal to attain a phobia based on a medical condition?

For example lets say a kid got really bad rashes for sitting or being under the sun (even if it was 25 degrees c) and due to this condition he gets a phobia of the sun (heliophobia)

Yeah, my friend was allergic to rabbits and they made her go into anaphylactic shock when she was a kid and she used to freak out whenever she saw them.

When I was little, there was a huge fire in the field in the back of my house. For a while after that, I became afraid of 🔥. Not a medical condition, but....

Sometimes we obtain phobias genetically, other times it can be from our past experiences like you mentioned, sometimes it can purely be from primal instinct, for example the phobia of small holes, humans are made to fear the holes because back when we used to forage it was often a sign a plant was poisonous. Anyways, yes it is very possible for that to happen. Especially if you were exposed to it from a young age. It tends to be uncommon with something like the sun because that is such a vital thing for survival, however it is definitely possible.

  • Phobia is so overused, i’d say if it were something small like a rash the kid could develop a strong fear of the sun.
