I can't ever remember asking. I've sometimes been a bit "behind the door" as we say in this city, meaning less pushy and forthcoming, but I've still always known.
I don't know, I mean, do you want actual real-world experiences? I don't mind sharing but I'd have to trawl my memory a bit. I remember first dates very well but first times less well. Probably because I try to be entertaining on a first date, but for a first time, most of my blood isn't in the region of my brain. :)
