You should have a say on things. Cutting arguments short is basically uconventional, atleast for me since it demonstrates that you dont give a shit on what he thinks/says.. which basically is a form of contempt. I don't know how old/young you are but atleast have a few response on what the other party is saying. Sometimes, people who sticks to "Okay" or "Fine" when the other starts on asking him few questions tend to lose their communication skills as they grow older. Be opinionated, exert an effort to appreciate other people's thoughts. Arguing doesn't literally mean fighting, it merely signifies that you have your own mind-set/view on the matter
