If you want a vacation, why not take a vacation instead of occupying a bed in a hospital or a seat in a group therapy session that someone else may need? That sounds like you're seeking drama and not just a little break because you're bored.
If you're that bored, tell people you're going on a week-long vacation to Rarotonga and check into a nice hotel in a neighboring town instead.
If you're too young or broke to take a vacation on your own and are expecting your parents/spouse/insurance company to foot the bill for your little mental vacation, you're a narcissistic jerk who will eventually wear out the goodwill of said parents/spouse/insurance company and will die alone and miserable because no one will put up with your selfish ass forever.
I really hope that isn't the case; I'd far rather believe you're just a little misguided in your vacation choices and not so impossibly selfish that you'd put friends and family through that kind of expense and worry because you were bored.
Well said. I'd just add that you maybe in denial of an actual mental problem. Chronic boredom or apathy may be a sign of a deeper problem. Maybe you'd be better off getting an intake interview at a clinic, and see what they say.
Is it normal to admit yourself to the Mental Hospital for a vacation?

I just hope that this person won't seriously do this. What an ass.
