Hi! I voted that it is "normal" bc I know you're not the only one who does this or something similar (hence the previous commenter and I) but I would guess that this is pretty "rare"; not many people likely do this imo. I however have had an ongoing story in my head for about a year now. The main character is me in the future 2-6 years older. The plot is highly dramatic, emotional, and unrealistic. There are two main characters, "me" and my partner, as well as reoccurring characters such as a friend and a foster family. Everyone has a developed story and personality. I immerse myself in the story almost every night and sometimes during the day, especially during a long car ride. Like you, I incorporate characters and ideas from other sources into my story. I once took a whole character from a show I loved and put her in the plot. I have also incorporated an irl crush haha. I'd like to think that having the story makes me more prepared for some situations irl but who knows? I enjoy it, so I keep it up. Since I relate so much to your post, I would rly like to ask you a couple questions, no pressure to answer ofc. first of all, do u record the story anywhere so you don't forget anything? I don't. Second of all, do you think this fantasy had anything to do with feeling/being lonely irl, because for me I think it does .
Holy crud I never thought I'd find someone else who experiences the same thing I do! I would love to answer your questions :) 1) No I don't record anything physically, I tend to remember where I left off or even go back "in time" to something previous! and 2) Maybe it's feeling lonely or not in the real world, but I like escaping reality (it tends to bring a lot of stress on me haha) Also I want to ask a question from you, its ok if you don't answer :) but does music enhance your daydreaming? Because when I listen to music, it becomes a huge trigger for me (i even repeat some segments so i can modify a scene in my dream!)
Is it normal to act out the fantasy world in your head
