I'm female and from my observations it depends...I think girls who wear a lot of obvious make-up come across as more appearance-oriented and attention-seeking and emit a kind of "open for business" vibe to men. Then again some guys might find this a bit intimidating.
In my opinion you can't go wrong with the natural look, by which I don't mean completely au naturel, but rather some minimal, understated make-up. The important thing is to cover any skin impurities (Near flawless skin is very attractive) and to bring out your best features and your eyes. Some mascara, eyeliner and a natural looking eye shadow. This is quite subtle, but still gives you a more polished kind of look.
