Considering how many innocent people have been executed in the US I wouldn't be arguing in favour of any permanent physical punishments if I were you. Just imagine the lawsuits down the track!
Prisoners wouldn't have to be supported by the public if they had to actually work at real work in prison to support themselves and not having the privilege of mixing with anyone other than those like themselves would be punishment in itself. The high cost of keeping people in prison would obviously be much lower if prisons weren't run for profit by private companies.
I don't know of any research about sexual behavior after surgical castration, but I do know that male animals castrated after reaching maturity are infertile but still sexually active. It may be mythological but there are many stories about the sexual activities of eunuchs in harems and they were almost imvariably castrated at a young age. Anyway, not all sexual assaults are carried out with the sex organs and impotent men are quite capable of sexual assault.
Is it normal this is how I feel about rapists?
