I hear ya. I'm Mexican, and according to my lady friends I'm attractive. A lot of guys automatically assume I'm a badass thug, but I'm pacifist, and I'm kinda Girly. Moral of the story: can't judge a book by it's cover. It's gonna happen though, and were gonna have to learn to deal with it.
