Betelgeuse was a mis-translation from Arabic to Latin of the name Orion.
It's a giant star in the shoulder in the constellation Orion. Some speculate it may go supernova. It's +-600 light years from earth, and poses no threat, but could be spectacular to see.
Is it normal they spell it Betel Guese?
