Is it normal the way he's acting?

There's this guy I like named Matt. I've known him for a little while now and we are friends. Ever since this school year started, he's started acting shy. In my English class, I'll sometimes sneak a peak at him. Sometimes, I'll find him looking back. I'm not sure if it's because he noticed me looking at him, or what.

We text everyday, but sometimes he'll just stop responding. I'll ask if he's still there and he'll respond with yes. I've had his best friend tell me he thinks he likes me, but it's just a guess. Also, Matt isn't exactly the dating type. I just want to know... Does he like me, or just suddenly acting different? Is it normal?
