Yes, it's tight knit, but I challenge anyone to find a group of people that have known each other a long time to NOT be.
I started going to the chat a few months ago, and I think it's great. In all honesty, the only reason the people in there are ever 'nasty' (as said in a recently deleted post) is if people come in spamming, being rude or downright filthy. It's really more just defense than nasty. Who doesn't react when they feel like they're under attack? I haven't seen it happen unprovoked. I'll also admit that I've told people who are behaving poorly to shut it.
For the record, I'm in chat all the time, but I don't really consider myself a 'regular'. Just cos I don't. That isn't because the people there aren't nice. They really are lovely people.
